Six Things To Know About Social Anxiety
Six Things To Know About Social Anxiety
1) The belief that people are after you will be strong, but not strong enough to be convincing paranoia.
Humans as a species, in your mind, will be evil and cruel. Any mistake made in the past or present are grounds for complete revenge. Your belief will be so powerful of your impending demise via other human beings that you struggle to once again exit the premises. You will struggle to move from place to place without symptoms akin to paranoia. One may develop an eating disorder to cope, panic at random times for the sole reason that they are in a public area, or develop other unhealthy ways to cope, such as substance abuse, or sheltering in a private room for hours on end. However, no matter the coping skill, it will never be enough. You will always critique and dwell on every mistake you've ever made, and never be able to move on.
2) You will constantly dwell on every mistake you've ever made.
Every mistake made will take constant residence in your mind. Rarely anything else matters, and you will contemplate every mistake you've made and every possible outcome that could have prevented it. You always know that if you were smarter you could have changed the outcome and prevented every mistake you've ever made. Nothing will make much difference in the future, but regardless your dazed hours will be spent contemplating everything you've done incorrectly.
3) You will be inconsolable when in a fit of anxiety.
Fits of anxiety tend to come on when you are in a large public area with a crowd of people. You will freeze, your breathing will become labored, and you will dart your eyes around searching for threats. Again, every mistake you've ever made will come back to haunt your mind, and you will pray to be rid of the monsters in your mind for just fifteen minutes. Through will-power alone, you will hold back the panting needed to get the air your body seems to demand from you. Every moment you pass will feel like an eternity. And it will only pass when you are away from human beings.
4) Fits don't always have a cause.
Most people when suffering from anxiety have a set cause of it. Sometimes it isn't always obvious, but sometimes the cause of the classic shaking can't be pinned down easily. It could have several, or it could simply be built up stress. Nothing is ever certain
5) Often they will refuse help, thinking what they feel is normal. Outside help is needed to begin treatment
Human beings only have the knowledge they have grown up with. If they are born with an anxiety disorder, they will assume that what they feel is total normality, and everyone goes through the same thing. A separate person, often of professional background, is often needed to diagnose and convince the person of their disorder.
6) Anxiety is not directly life-threatening, but it can cause a life-threatening outlook on life.
Anxiety can cause moments of helplessness and sorrow. The constant heart racing and hyperventilation is enough to drive anyone to the pits of despair. Which in tern causes extreme depression, and the feeling that no matter what nothing will ever get better, which will cause a feeling of self-destruction. Afterwards, anything is possible.
